No one wants to read your newsletter.
Sorry, but it’s true.
But maybe you have an incredible newsletter.
It’s insightful and practical and hilarious (kind of like this one).
Still, I promise no one is going to sign up for it just because you told them about it.
When’s the last time you willingly gave your email to a company you hadn’t bought from just so they could spam you with marketing emails?
So you can take that newsletter signup off your homepage; it’s dead space.
If you want anyone to sign up, you have to earn it first.
You have to give them a reason.
We call that reason a “lead magnet.”
- 5 Tips to End Your Back Pain
- 7 Warmup Stretches for Runners
- 10 Ways to Cure a Tension Headache (#3 will SHOCK you)
Usually it’s a PDF that you send to them in exchange for filling out a form and agreeing to receive messages.
It’s a great way to stay in touch with patients who are interested in PT but aren’t ready to book an appointment quite yet.
They get some help with their problem while you get to look like an expert and stay in touch with them.
If you have these kinds of lead magnets and they are working, great!
If you don’t have any, they aren’t working, or you just want to spice things up, here’s a way to do it that’s easier than ever.
Email courses.
Instead of emailing someone a PDF of 5 exercises for back pain, you send them a daily email breaking down one exercise per day.
This saves you the hassle of creating an updating PDFs, plus it keeps you on their mind longer.
It saves them the hassle and risk of downloading the PDFs and breaks up the tips into easily-digestible chunks.
For most people, reading a quick email is preferrable and easier than downloading a file.
If you have video instructions handy, that helps some people as well.
We’ve seen some clinics increase their leads by 60% when adding these types of courses to their site.
Just make sure you have a system in place for following up with these leads and nurturing them over time.
That’s where your incredible newsletter can finally shine.
